Farsley defeated struggling New Mills, on a cold October evening, comfortably thanks to two first-half goals from Lewis Nightingale and Robbie O’Brien.

The first chance of the game fell to New Mills when Aaron Chalmers let fly from long range forcing Tom Taylor into an early save. Their bright start continued when Daniel Caldecott crossed for Lee O’Brien who hit the outside of the post. Soon after Farsley took the lead when Savory, the league’s joint leading scorer, was felled in the box allowing Nightingale to convert. Farsley almost doubled their lead when Marcus Edwards turned the defender before having his effort really well saved by goalkeeper Peter Collinge. From the resulting corner Farsley thought they had scored when the ball was headed against the post before coming across goal and being cleared off the line, with the referee adjudging the ball to not of crossed the line. Midway through the first half Spencer Harris let in Douglas-Pringle before the onrushing Taylor bundled the ball away. Not long before half-time Farsley hit the post for the second time when Ross Daly put Edwards through on goal, however he failed to convert. Farsley got a deserved second minutes later when Savory’s cross was deflected and fell to the feet of skipper O’Brien who lashed home.

In an uneventful second period Marcus Edwards had one of few chances when he was through on goal before Carlos Meakin made a goal saving tackle. With less than ten minutes remaining Lewis Nightingale struck a low free kick goal wards before Collinge got across to make the save. In the remaining minutes the game petered out and Farsley held on for a comfortable win.
