Farsley came from 2-0 down to win 4-2 over local rivals Harrogate Railway to start the New Year with a bang.

The first half was a scrappy affair, with both sides struggling to find any rhythm early on, however Harrogate took the lead midway through the first-half when Michael Morris tapped home from inside the six yard box. Moments later Rob Youhill doubled Harrogate’s lead when he raced through on goal and slotted home. Just after the half-hour mark Rob Youhill had another great chance however Tom Taylor made the save.

Farsley’s comeback started early on in the second half when a loose ball fell to Andy Welsh who finished into an open net from close range. Adam Priestley scored potentially the goal of the season to make it 2-2 when he blasted the ball into the top corner from 35 yards out on the left wing. With Farsley now well on top and pushing for the win Aiden Savory passed to Lewis Nightingale who slipped the ball into the far corner. Minutes later Farsley almost wrapped it up when Nightingale set up a wide open Robbie O’Brien who shot just over the bar. The three points were signed, sealed and delivered as the game ticked into injury time when Aiden Savory fired home from the edge of the box.

This win lifts Farsley up to sixth, one point off the play-offs with plenty of games in hand on the teams above.
