Just one victory was possible in the latest round of the Sunfoil 3 Day Cup as Northerns beat Borders by 10 wickets.

Northerns then scored 187 with a 50 down the order from wicket-keeper Links and a five wicket haul for Fojela. 182 was all Borders could muster in the second innings as Pienaar picked up four more wickets with Northerns needing just 154 to win. They were knocked off comfortably inside 38 overs as Markram scored 80 not out and Vardhan also finished unbeaten on 71.

Elsewhere, all three matches between Namibia and Gauteng, Eastern Province and Free State, and Kwazulu-Natal and Griqualand West ended in draws. Notable performances included 117 from Kwazulu-Natal’s DJ Van Wyk, 144 from Eastern Province’s Price, 103 from Free State’s captain Botha and five wickets from Gauteng’s Pongolo.

These results leave Northerns top of Pool A, and Gauteng top of Pool B.
