Farsley slipped to their fourth straight defeat as lowly Brighouse Town completed the double over their local rivals.

Brighouse started the brightest and took an early lead through Ernest Boafo who stroked the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. Farsley responded and almost got back in the game when Ross Daley’s shot was deflected just wide. Midway through the half Brighouse almost doubled their lead when Kurt Harris’ effort was saved from close range by Tom Taylor. Adam Priestley then went off injured, however Farsley should have equalised when Matt Dempsey put his free header wide.

Brighouse continued to create opportunities into the second half and ex-Farsley defender Sam Hewitt headed straight at Taylor who made a comfortable save. Shortly after Robbie O’Brien received the ball on the edge of the box but his effort ballooned over the crossbar. Both sides worked hard to try and create any further opportunities, however Brighouse held on for a 1-0 victory.
