Lancaster City made the most of Farsley’s missed opportunities as they came from behind to defeat The Celts 4-2 at Throstle Nest.
The first half was a mainly scrappy affair however Farsley enjoyed the better periods of pressure and had a good chance early on as Alex Davidson fired wide. There was some unfortunate news for Farsley as Ryan Serrant was forced off injured midway through the first half, however Farsley continued to press and Davidson shot wide after James Walshaw’s shot was blocked. Just before half time Farsley took a deserved lead as a sensational long ball from Paddy Miller picked out the run of Alex Davidson who slotted home. However Lancaster responded immediately and levelled the scores as Jordan Connerton crossed to Louis Mayers who turned on a sixpence and fired home.
Paddy Miller almost gave Farsley the advantage from a Richard Marshall corner as his header was well saved before his follow up effort was bravely blocked. Alex Davidson was tripped in the box moments later as he earned The Celts a penalty, before Richard Marshall stepped up and converted into the bottom corner. Fifteen minutes from time Lancaster equalised against the run of play as Josh Westwood headed home Billy Akrigg’s corner at the near post. Farsley then had a glorious chance to retake the lead as Lewis Nightingale put Nathan Turner through on goal only for Mike Hale to make a fine save before Lancaster countered and took the lead for themselves, Connerton slotting home. Deep into injury time Marshall came inches away from earning a point for Farsley as his shot struck the upright before Lancaster countered once more and scored with the final kick of the game as Connerton bagged his brace and Lancaster’s fourth.
