Brighouse Town came from a goal down to steal a win over Farsley Celtic who blew a lead for the second time in three days.
Leon Osborne had two early chances for Brighouse as he repeatedly found space in the box however he missed the target with his headers on both occasions. Just after the half hour mark Farsley took the lead after a spell of pressure with Richard Marshall firing a pearler into the top corner past the outstretched hand of Tom Taylor. Immediately after Marshall almost doubled Farsley’s lead however this time Taylor was equal to the task making a fine save. Brighouse then almost pulled level after a lapse in concentration at the back allowed Luke Parkin in only for Graeme McKibbin to make the save.
Richard Marshall almost bagged his brace early in the second half as Paul Walker picked him out in the box before Marshall turned smartly and fired over. Tom Haigh had only been on the pitch a matter of minutes before he helped Brighouse pull level, slipping a low cross in before Chris Howarth put the ball in his own net. Paul Walker had a chance to regain the lead for The Celts as he was played in by Richard Marshall however he shot straight at Taylor. With a little over twenty minutes remaining Lewis Nightingale had the best chance of the half for Farsley as he received the ball in space in the box only to balloon his effort way over the bar. Tom Haigh then scored what tuned out to be the winner for Brighouse as the ball fell to him following a fine save from McKibbin and he managed to bundle the ball home against the run of play. There were few chances in the final ten minutes however Farsley were reduced to ten men following a fracas after Tom Haigh chopped down Marshall, in which Brighouse ‘keeper Tom Taylor unnecessarily rushed out of his box to confront James Walshaw and coax out a response which he succeeded in doing, Walshaw seeing red after allegedly grabbing Taylor by the throat.
