Farsley Celtic return to action following a week off after last Saturday’s game with Clitheroe was postponed. The Celts make the trip across the Pennines intent on doing the double over Colne and continuing their promotion push.
Farsley head into the game on the back of three consecutive wins following the Boxing Day defeat to fellow promotion rivals Ossett Town. Since then Farsley have defeated Tadcaster Albion (5-1) and Radcliffe Borough (5-0) in league action, whilst progressing to the semi-finals of the West Riding County Cup with a 4-2 victory over Guiseley AFC. All this means The Villagers are one point outside of the playoffs albeit with six games in hand, and nine points off pacesetters Lancaster City. Farsley have positive news on the injury front as Ryan Serrant and Peter Davidson both return to the squad, however Alex Davidson remains sidelined.
Colne have surprised many this season following their promotion with their rise to eighth place in the league after some fantastic performances. Colne are unbeaten in their last six league games but face tough tests against Farsley and Lancaster City in the space of a week. Most recently Colne defeated Ossett Town 2-1 thanks to a dramatic last minute winner from Mark Ayres. They will also be looking to avenge their 2-1 defeat at Throstle Nest earlier in the season, with goals from James Walshaw and Richard Marshall enough for The Celts. Colne have no apparent injury concerns.
The game takes place at the XLCR Stadium, postcode BB8 9SL. Admission prices are £7 adults, £4 concessions and free for Under 16s.If you can’t make the trip you can follow the game on @FarsleyCelticFC on Twitter.
