Farsley Celtic will look to build on their thrilling 3-2 victory over Brighouse Town as they battle Goole AFC for a place in the third round of the Integro Doodson League Cup. Ashton United await for the winner of this tie, with a trip across the Pennines the reward for progressing. When the two sides met earlier in the season, Farsley prevailed with a comfortable 3-0 victory at the Victoria Pleasure Ground. Striker James Walshaw opened his account for the season with a powerful header to put The Celts in front, before Aiden Savory slotted home. Walshaw secured his brace and the three points for Farsley with a second half header.
The Celts head into this game unbeaten in 2017, scoring 21 goals in the process. This has allowed Farsley to rise to fourth in the league and continue their assault on the title. To reach this stage of the competition The Villagers dispatched of local rivals Ossett Albion 4-2 back in November, with goals from Peter Davidson, Lewis Nightingale, James Walshaw and Jacob Hazel, who has since left the club. Farsley will be without the services of Ryan Watson who is suspended following his dismissal in the 1-1 draw with Droylsden, whilst Nathan Turner and Adam Clayton are doubtful.
Goole have endured a difficult season and are in danger of relegation as they lie 21st, six points adrift of safety. The Vikings have gone eight games without a win, however they did secure an impressive draw against table toppers Lancaster City in that time. Goole took the scalp of Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division side Whitby Town in the first round with a terrific 3-2 win against a side vying for promotion in the division above. They have no apparent injury concerns.
