Farsley Celtic make the short trip to Bradford Park Avenue for this West Riding County Cup semi-final tie. The winner will face Tadcaster Albion, who defeated Brighouse Town 2-1, in the final at Bradford City’s Valley Parade ground.
Farsley will be full of confidence ahead of this game after knocking out three higher level teams throughout various cup competitions this season, including Tamworth in the FA Trophy, who ply their trade in the same division as Bradford Park Avenue. To reach this stage of the competition The Celts have defeated Liversedge (3-2), Glasshoughton Welfare (3-1) and Guiseley AFC (4-2). Farsley have also been in fine form of late with just one defeat in their last four matches, that being a League Cup tie against Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division side Ashton United. Richard Marshall will be welcomed back into the squad following his suspension, whilst Aiden Savory is unavailable. Alex Davidson also remains out with injury.
Defending Champions Bradford Park Avenue are just two wins away from making it as back to back West Riding County Cup winners. In last season’s final, Park Avenue defeated Harrogate Town 3-2. Bradford have knocked out Thackley (1-0) and Harrogate Town (3-1) on their path to the semi-finals, having received a bye in each of the first two rounds. Bradford’s recent form has seen them climb out of the National League North relegation zone and move three points clear of the drop. They have won their last three games in the league, with victories over Curzon Ashton, Gainsborough Trinity and Nuneaton Town. Whilst many of the Celts’ squad have played for Bradford in the past, there will also be some familiar faces on the Park Avenue sideline. James Knowles played for Farsley earlier in the season, whilst Sanchez Payne played against Farsley for Goole just last month when out on loan.
So why not make the short trip to cheer on The Celts at the Horsfall Stadium, postcode BD6 2NG. Kick off is at 7.45pm on MONDAY and there are reduced admission prices, with adults now costing £7, concessions £5 and U18s £2. See you there!
