Farsley Celtic travel to Hyde United for another crucial game as they look to increase the pressure on leaders Lancaster City. When the sides met at Throstle Nest in November The Celts ran out 2-1 winners. Aiden Savory scored two second half goals, first nodding home Jacob Hazel’s cross before he smashed home from close range. Hyde did pull one back as Big Khamsuk slotted home, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation.
Farsley head into this game still nine points behind Lancaster with three games in hand. They have had a full week to prepare for this weekend’s game after Tuesday’s trip to Mossley was postponed, and will be full of confidence. The Celts have won their last three games in all competitions and their last four in the league, which includes last Saturday’s 2-1 home victory against Prescot Cables. Chris Howarth returns to the squad after recovering from a virus, however Lamin Colley is out with a knee injury and Alex Davidson remains sidelined with a hamstring injury. Ahead of the game The Celts’ leading scorer James Walshaw said “Saturday is going to be really tough. Hyde have brought a few players in and are on a great run, they beat my former club Altrincham not so long back and I’m expecting a tough game.”
Hyde’s superb recent run has seen them move up to 12th in the league and still have an outside chance of reaching the playoffs, however being eight points away means they face an uphill struggle. Hyde are eight games unbeaten and didn’t lose at all throughout February, and have recorded impressive wins against Scarborough in the league (3-2) and Altrincham in the cup (2-1). There will be some familiar faces for the Throstle Nest faithful with former players Kyle Harrison, Matt Dempsey and Paddy Miller now plying their trade at Ewen Fields. They have no apparent injury concerns.
The game takes place at Ewen Fields, postcode SK14 5PL. The game kicks off at 3pm and admission prices are £8 adults, £5 concessions and £2 U16s with an extra pound to sit. We hope to see you there but if you can’t make the trip there will be live updates on our Twitter page @FarsleyCelticFC.
