Ossett Town are the visitors for a game with huge ramifications at the top of the table. Farsley currently lead the league, whilst Ossett have surprised everyone and sit third, but are involved in an incredibly tight fight for the three remaining playoff positions.
The Celts extended their lead by a point over the weekend, as despite being held to a 2-2 draw in North Wales by Colwyn Bay, second placed Lancaster City slumped to their third defeat in four games away to Droylsden. A win for Farsley and anything but a win for The Dollies who face Kendal Town will give The Celts the title. Farsley enter the game on the back of a five game unbeaten run, which included Tuesday’s penalty shootout victory against Tadcaster Albion, as The Villagers lifted the West Riding County Cup. Neil Parsley and John Deacey will have an unchanged squad to select from, as top scorer James Walshaw serves the final game of his five match suspension.
Ossett Town have seen a resurgence in form recently after a dreadful February and March. Just two games were won throughout the entirety of February and March, however Town are unbeaten in April, with wins over Radcliffe Borough (4-0), Ramsbottom United (5-0) and Prescot Cables (3-1), whilst also drawing 1-1 with Brighouse Town. This purple patch has put Ossett in pole position to snatch a playoff spot, however any slipup on Monday could cost them dearly ahead of a massive final day clash against Trafford. Ossett will be looking for their first Throstle Nest victory since a 5-2 victory in 2002, however did prevail at Ingfield earlier this season with a dramatic 3-2 win on Boxing Day. They have no apparent injury concerns.
So why not come down and cheer on your local team at Throstle Nest, postcode LS28 5BE. Kick off is at 3pm on Easter Monday, with admission prices just £7 adults, £4 concession and £1 U16s. See you there! #COYC
